SPFC Strengthens Coaching Standards Ahead of 2026 Season

As preparations ramp up for the inaugural 2026 season, Southern Phoenix FC is actively enhancing its coaching structure to meet – and exceed – Football NSW’s expectations for JDL and Youth League environments.

The Football NSW Club Standards & Benchmarking Framework emphasises the importance of qualified coaches, consistent training environments, and player-centric development models across both Junior Development and Youth League programs . With these standards in mind, Southern Phoenix FC has begun formalising its coaching appointments and professional development commitments for the upcoming season.

Raising the Bar for Player Development

The club is prioritising:

• Minimum three-session training schedules, aligning with mandatory development standards
• Qualified coaching teams across all age groups, including investment in FA Coaching Diplomas and CPD opportunities
• A consistent technical philosophy to guide training, match preparation and long-term player progression
• Improved matchday environments that emphasise learning, respect and enjoyment

These initiatives ensure the new club delivers a program that is not only compliant with the Football NSW framework, but also provides a stronger, more supportive learning environment for players.

Building a Coaching Culture

Southern Phoenix FC also intends to introduce in-house mentoring, peer review systems and opportunities for coaches to attend Football NSW capability-building workshops throughout the season, as encouraged in the framework .

By investing early in coaching quality, the club is setting the foundation for long-term success – on and off the field.
